Knotical North Knitting Patterns was born out of a love for the craft that runs deep. We are a small, independent pattern design studio with a passion for creating knitting patterns that are both beautiful to look at and genuinely enjoyable to knit. We believe that a great pattern should feel like a conversation between the designer and the knitter — clear, encouraging, and full of thoughtful details that make the process as rewarding as the finished object.

Our name carries a little bit of wordplay and a whole lot of heart. “Knotical” is a nod to the knots and loops that form the very foundation of knitting, while “North” speaks to the landscapes and textures that inspire so much of what we design — the deep evergreen forests, the long cold winters, the soft grey skies, and the brilliant burst of color that arrives each spring. There is a certain timelessness to northern aesthetics, a preference for things that are sturdy, honest, and made to last. That is the spirit we try to weave into every pattern we release.

We design for a wide range of skill levels, from newer knitters who are ready to move beyond scarves and dishcloths to experienced makers who are looking for something that will genuinely challenge and delight them.
